Sustainability – it’s time to wake up and smell the coffee!
Malcolm Briggs, Director of Cumulate, the consultancy arm of the Mayridge Group, says “as a relative newcomer to the live events industry I tend to have a different perspective. This enables me to make naive comments about the industry but these tend to ring home when people really stop and think about them. But the thing that is exercising me at the moment is what exactly is the industry doing about sustainability? I see some really good techniques being promoted in various parts of the world but I suspect that a lot of this is just lip-service and everyone’s hoping it will just go away. But it won’t and so we need to address the issues. It might be more local production or the use of re-usable fabrics or even inflatable stands (yes, really!) but whatever route we go, the old days are gone. We’re inviting our clients to a Club Mayridge event in London on Thursday 6 November to discuss the options and to come up with a way forward. We’ll be showcasing some of the things we’ve seen and debating how they can be used to help sustain the planet we all depend upon!” For further details, contact malcolm.briggs@cumulate.com
